 Business Development Manager – LATAM

(Payments & Financial Infrastructure Partnerships)

About the role

Our client is building a next-generation financial infrastructure platform that bridges traditional payments and modern digital finance. The product ecosystem includes accounts, cards, local payment rails, on/off-ramps, and digital asset infrastructure, serving users across multiple global markets. To support expansion in Latin America — starting with Brazil — our client is hiring a Business Development Manager to lead strategic partnerships across the payments and banking ecosystem.

This is not a transactional sales role. Success in this position is measured by the ability to unlock new markets and product capabilities through well-structured, long-term partnerships. The role comes with a highly competitive compensation structure, including meaningful performance-based incentives that directly reflect the scale and impact of partnerships built and markets opened.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and execute a LATAM partnership roadmap focused on payments and banking infrastructure

  • Identify, engage, and negotiate with:

    • Issuing banks and BIN sponsors

    • EMI / e-money institutions

    • Card processors and program managers

    • Local PSPs and payment schemes (e.g. instant payment systems)

    • On/off-ramp providers and liquidity partners

  • Own the full partnership lifecycle: sourcing → evaluation → commercial structuring → contracting → launch

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams

  • Design commercially sustainable partnership models (revenue share, fee structures, interchange splits, reserves)

  • Represent our client in senior-level discussions with external partners

  • Provide ongoing market intelligence on regulation, competition, and infrastructure trends in LATAM

What success looks like

  • Strategic infrastructure partners signed and successfully launched

  • New markets enabled through local payment and banking capabilities

  • Tangible improvement in unit economics (processing costs, FX spreads, revenue share)

  • Product capabilities unlocked through partnerships rather than internal build

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or strategy within payments, fintech, or digital finance

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Card issuing and processing

    • BaaS / EMI models

    • Acquiring, interchange, and scheme fees

    • On/off-ramps and liquidity infrastructure

  • Experience working with regulated financial institutions

  • Hands-on LATAM market exposure (Brazil strongly preferred)

  • Proven ability to negotiate complex, multi-party commercial deals

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

  • Strong analytical mindset and commercial judgment

  • Fluent English; Portuguese or Spanish is a strong advantage
